Meet the Artist

Continuously sketching and scribbling my way through childhood….

I eventually found my way to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh where I became skilled in many of the conventional mediums in the graphic arts such as drawing, painting, printmaking, and photography.

It wasn’t until I entered the U.S. Navy as a Data Systems Technician in 1986 during the advent of the personal computer era that I saw the graphic capabilities at the dawning of the digital age and what true artistry could be accomplished when tradition, technology, and imagination intersected.

It was working for the U.S. Army in Germany at an Arts and Crafts Center when I discovered pottery, framing, painting, and wood working, broadening my skills and mind in all aspects of artistic creation and new cultural perspectives.

Running full-service print shops in Heidelberg and Mannheim, Germany that incorporated a laser engraver and sublimation system, is when the true innovation began. This is when my ingenuity and aptitude was taken to another level. It was during these years I honed my craft and found the heartfelt satisfaction of creating plaques and gifts for the military communities of Europe. It was here that I was recognized as an expert in my field and renowned for my originality.

Having a multi-dimensional design and art background and a pristine eye for detail, I also pursue a more technical application with the use of laser engravers. The use of laser engraving provides a versatility in materials that can be engraved such as wood, mirror, glass, acrylic, leather, metal, and many more. This provides a permanent piece of art that will become a lasting memory or an heirloom. Using a sublimation process to apply images and graphics onto metal and acrylic materials entails printing the image with special paper and inks then applying them to the metal with a heat press. This is also a permanent procedure that holds up to the test of time.

For the past two decades I have been customizing ideas & preserving remembrances for our great military services in the Chesapeake Bay area outside of Washington D.C., through my company EagleEyeEngraving. Now, with Zengraving, this grown-up kid can keep sketching, scribbling, painting, wood working, engraving, drawing, etc.…. for all of you to enjoy the creations we build together for generations to come.
